The PowerScan PD9530-DPM Evo is a corded imager used for reading Direct Part Marking (DPM) applications based on the enhanced Evo decoding software. Instead of printing a bar code onto a paper label, the Direct Part Marking (DPM) process allows the user to imprint a bar code directly onto an item. There are different technologies available to directly mark objects: laser / chemical etching, dot peening and ink jet printing. All of these methods have specific advantages and disadvantages in with regards to durability, cost and ease of reading.
This rugged handheld area imager is specifically designed for Direct Part Marking (DPM) applications with typical reading distances from contact to 4-5cm / 1.5-1.9in, depending on the type of DPM technology that is being used, its code resolution and the material and surface type. The PD9530-DPM can also read standard bar codes printed on labels. It is based on a high density optic which allows the capture of very small, high-resolution codes in a range from near contact up to 15.0cm / 5.9in. The PD9530-DPM features an aiming system that provides the highest first-pass reading rate and in addition this area imager uses a soft-pulsed white illumination light resulting in reduced flashes, which is very gentle on the operators eyes.
