The Prima 4 ID card with laminator produces photo quality cards, comparable to offset litho printing. With the in-line laminator option available, it provides additional card durability and security. This is great for cards that are used frequently or in outdoor environments, as the additional overlay will protect the card from wear and fading of the image. There are two types of laminates, these can be overlays or patch. The overlay option provides a thinner protection layer, but is fully edge-to-edge and the Patch option provides a thick protection layer on the card but is not quite edge-to-edge.

Description:

With the Prima 4, both the overlays or patch laminates can be supplied with a customisable holographic design. This is particularly great for those very high volume secure card printing applications. If you are producing lower volume secure printing, you are better off using Custom HoloKote on the Helix or the Rio Pro. When customising your design, a special dye sublimation Ultra Violet (UV) ribbon is used for the printing of invisible photographs, logos, text or symbols when issuing high security cards. The UV ink that is used can not be seen by the naked eye, it is only visible with the use of a UV light source. The YMCK-UV ribbon is a special ribbon that offers an affordable yet still highly secure feature to decrease susceptibility to counterfeiting.
